LANDSCAPE DESIGN IN PAU: BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO BOULEVARD D’ARAGON

The heart of Pau is undergoing a gradual transformation, and Boulevard d’Aragon is a prime example. This historic thoroughfare has recently benefited from a new landscaping scheme designed to enhance the public realm while preserving the district’s character.
This is now a place where walking and social interaction are being celebrated once again.

At ATECH, we are proud to have contributed to this transformation by providing our expertise in the design and manufacture of greening modules and urban seating.
This landscape redevelopment project in Pau also aligns with long-term sustainable planning, thanks to the durable materials we selected and a design that allows for the repairability of the krebs structures and seating elements.

Materials adapted to urban requirements

For this redevelopment, we chose aluminium and steel – two complementary materials that combine resistance and flexibility. The 4 mm thick powder-coated aluminium gives lightness to the straight edging, while the 6 mm thick anti-corrosion steel provides extreme strength for the low rails. The Mars 2525 sand-textured finish adds an elegant touch while blending harmoniously into the environment. These elements are produced in multiple segments (up to 1480 mm long), making them easier to transport and assemble on site.

Powder-coated aluminium and anti-corrosion steel: a winning combination

To deliver this landscaping project, a balance between aesthetics and durability was essential. Powder-coated aluminium provides a protective barrier against oxidation and weathering, while offering a premium finish.
In addition, 80 x 80 mm angle steel with anti-corrosion treatment is ideal for creating robust, low-profile edges.

Reinforcement brackets and bolted assembly contribute to the stability and shock resistance of each module, ensuring they withstand intensive daily use.

Untreated robinia wood seating for a natural touch

To ensure user comfort, we incorporated backrests and seats made from untreated robinia wood, using 60 x 40 mm slats.
This wood introduces a natural warmth that contrasts harmoniously with the metal components, while offering excellent resistance to the elements.

This material choice reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainable and community-oriented design.
In close cooperation with the city and landscape designers, we ensured the final layout would offer a harmonious and functional blend of greenery and urban features.
