EXTERIOR DESIGN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARRAS: THE KEY ROLE OF CORTEN STEEL
As part of the’Arras University Outdoor Area, we contributed to the revitalization of the campus surroundings by proposing a corten steel urban design that enlivens this relaxation space. The main objective was to create friendly, shaded seating areas, while simultaneously reducing paved surfaces to bring coolness and well-being to students and staff.
Modular and friendly seating areas
We have also manufactured several pieces of furniture to complete the exterior design of the Arras University, in addition to the many coastal elements that have been created: ORIGAMI benches in pre-weathered corten steel and stabilized, seats in wood exotic wood – custom-made islands with a whole surface area of seats in wood pre-weathered corten steel and stabilized – Raw corten borders.
Indeed, the wood exotic element guarantees excellent durability and adds a warm touch, while corten steel reinforcing the contemporary character of the whole. Moreover,corten steel it blends perfectly with the surrounding architecture of red brick buildings.
Thanks to our expertise, we were able to propose a custom design that combines aesthetics and robustness to withstand the climate of northern France. Finally, these facilities promote conviviality by offering students and visitors a space to relax or work outdoors.

We have adapted our proposals to meet the functional requirements of the site, while maintaining architectural consistency with the existing structures.
Thus, the combination of Corten steel and exotic wood harmoniously blends with the typical brick facades of northern France. Finally, this teamwork ensures an outdoor space for the University of Arras that is both resilient and aesthetically pleasing, capable of welcoming students, faculty, and visitors in optimal conditions.
