EXTERIOR DESIGN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARRAS: THE KEY ROLE OF CORTEN STEEL
As part of the’Arras University Outdoor Area, we contributed to the revitalization of the campus surroundings by proposing a corten steel urban design that enlivens this relaxation space. The main objective was to create friendly, shaded seating areas, while simultaneously reducing paved surfaces to bring coolness and well-being to students and staff.
Modular and friendly seating areas
In addition to the numerous concrete curbs we fabricated, we also produced several furniture items to complete the landscaping at the University of Arras: – ORIGAMI benches – activated and stabilized Corten steel, exotic wood slats for seats – custom-made islands with a full seating surface in activated and stabilized wood and Corten steel Raw corten borders Indeed, exotic wood guarantees excellent durability and brings a warm touch, while Corten steel reinforces the contemporary character of the whole. Furthermore, Corten steel integrates perfectly into the middle of these red brick architectures. Thanks to our expertise, we have been able to propose a tailor-made design, combining aesthetics and robustness to withstand the climate of northern France. Finally, these installations promote conviviality, by offering students and visitors a space to relax or work outdoors.

Thus, the combination of Corten steel and exotic wood harmoniously blends with the typical brick facades of northern France. Finally, this teamwork ensures an outdoor space for the University of Arras that is both resilient and aesthetically pleasing, capable of welcoming students, faculty, and visitors in optimal conditions.
